When should you book travel vaccinations?
Try to arrange travel-health advice at least 4–6 weeks before departure. Some vaccines need more than one dose, intervals between doses or time for protection to develop. Complex itineraries may benefit from an earlier assessment.
Travelling sooner? Do not assume it is too late. A last-minute consultation can still identify useful vaccinations, malaria precautions and other measures, although full protection may not be possible before departure.

Important suitability and safety information
Tell us about every medical condition, medicine, allergy and previous vaccine reaction. Also tell us if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, immunosuppressed, acutely unwell or have a bleeding disorder. Different vaccines and medicines have different age, weight, timing and interaction rules.
- Vaccination does not remove every travel risk. Food and water hygiene, handwashing, animal avoidance, mosquito and tick protection, and appropriate travel insurance remain important.
- Malaria can occur despite precautions. Seek urgent medical assessment for fever or unexplained illness during travel or within 12 months of visiting a malaria-risk area, and state where you travelled.
- After an animal bite or scratch abroad: wash the wound immediately with soap and running water for several minutes, apply a suitable disinfectant if available, and obtain urgent medical advice even if you were vaccinated against rabies.
- At altitude: preventive medicine is not a substitute for gradual ascent. Do not continue upwards with symptoms; descend and seek urgent help if symptoms become severe or suggest high-altitude cerebral or pulmonary oedema.

Victoria works within the clinic’s clinical governance arrangements and alongside our pharmacist independent prescriber, with additional clinical support available where required.

Is the travel consultation really free?
Yes. The initial consultation is free. Vaccines, certificates and medicines are private and chargeable; costs are explained before treatment.
Which travel vaccines do I need?
This depends on the exact destination, length and type of trip, activities, previous vaccines and your personal health. The consultation is designed to assess these factors rather than apply a standard list.
Can you help if I am travelling at short notice?
Often, yes. Some vaccinations or preventive measures may still be useful, but suitability, availability and the protection achievable before departure vary.
Do you provide malaria tablets?
The clinic provides malaria-risk assessment and can supply a suitable antimalarial option where indicated under the service criteria. No antimalarial is fully protective, so bite prevention remains essential.
Can children use the travel clinic?
Some vaccines and malaria-prevention options can be considered for children. Minimum ages, weight limits, schedules and product suitability vary, so each child requires an individual assessment.
