Treherbert Pharmacy provides a local access point to PrimeLife’s forthcoming private adult ADHD service. The assessment, diagnosis, prescribing and follow-up pathway will be delivered online by a specialist clinical team led by Edward Jones and supported by Wellness Pharmacy.

What is adult ADHD?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition that can affect attention, organisation, activity levels and impulse control. In adults, it may affect work, study, household routines, finances, driving, relationships and emotional wellbeing.
Possible signs include persistent distractibility, forgetfulness, difficulty starting or completing tasks, poor time management, restlessness, impulsive decisions and difficulty regulating attention. Symptoms usually begin in childhood, although some people are not recognised or assessed until adulthood.
These experiences are not specific to ADHD. Anxiety, depression, sleep problems, autism, substance use, physical illness, medicine effects and other conditions can produce overlapping difficulties, which is why a full diagnostic assessment is required.
Who the private ADHD assessment Wales service is for
The service is designed for adults aged 18 and over across the UK. It will support people seeking a first formal assessment as well as some adults who already have an ADHD diagnosis and need review, treatment initiation, titration or transfer of care.
- Suspected ADHD: longstanding attention, organisation, restlessness or impulsivity difficulties that affect more than one area of life.
- Later-life recognition: adults who were not assessed in childhood, including people whose predominantly inattentive symptoms may have been overlooked.
- Existing diagnosis: adults with previous diagnostic records who want their documentation and current care needs reviewed.
- Treatment or transfer: adults seeking specialist prescribing or titration, subject to records review, clinical reassessment and acceptance into the service.
This service is not for people under 18 or anyone seeking medication without appropriate specialist assessment. Previous diagnosis or treatment does not automatically guarantee prescribing or transfer.
Who provides the service?
Provides the local information and access page for adults in Treherbert, Treorchy, the Rhondda, South Wales and surrounding communities.
Provides the UK-wide online ADHD pathway, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and continuing clinical care.
Supports the regulated prescribing and dispensing pathway. Approved prescriptions may be dispensed by Wellness Pharmacy or issued for dispensing elsewhere where required.
How the service will work when it opens
The following reflects the PrimeLife pathway which has yet to go live. Join the waiting list to be kept informed about when the service launches.

Complete the clinical intake form
You provide information about your current difficulties, childhood history, health, mental health, medicines and the effect symptoms have on everyday life.

Invite an informant
Someone who knows you well completes a collaborative questionnaire. Where possible, this should help describe symptoms and functioning across childhood and adult life.

Pay the deposit and create your account
After initial screening, eligible patients will be invited to create a secure account and pay the published deposit. No payment is required merely to join the current waiting list.

Attend the pre-assessment appointment
The team checks that the information is complete, discusses the process and identifies records or supporting evidence needed before the diagnostic consultation.

Pay the remaining assessment fee
The remaining assessment charge becomes payable before the full diagnostic consultation. All prices will be published before launch.

Complete the diagnostic video consultation
One of our clinicians conducts a detailed 60–90-minute assessment using the clinical history, DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, DIVA-5 framework, functional impairment review, risk assessment and differential diagnosis.

Discuss the outcome and treatment plan
A separate 20–30-minute results consultation explains the diagnostic outcome, recommendations and available next steps.

Receive a written report
A formal written assessment report is issued whether or not the final outcome is an ADHD diagnosis.

Begin titration where appropriate
If medication is clinically appropriate and you choose to proceed, the team may begin a supervised dose-titration period, expected to take approximately 8–12 weeks for many patients.

Continue specialist monitoring
Ongoing care may include private repeat prescriptions, symptom and side-effect monitoring, six-monthly reviews and a comprehensive annual medication review.

Consider shared care
After a stable dose is established, PrimeLife may ask your GP to consider a shared-care arrangement. Your GP is not obliged to accept, and shared care can never be guaranteed.
What the private ADHD assessment Wales considers
An online questionnaire or screening score cannot diagnose ADHD on its own. The assessment must consider symptoms, impairment, development, mental state, physical health, other possible explanations and information from different settings.
Whether relevant symptoms were present earlier in life and how they have continued or changed over time.
How difficulties affect work, education, home life, relationships, finances, driving or other important settings.
Whether another mental-health, neurodevelopmental, physical-health, sleep, substance-use or medicine-related issue better explains the symptoms.
Informant observations and, where available, school reports, previous assessments, medical records or workplace evidence.
New assessment or support with an existing diagnosis
Seeking a first diagnosis
You will need to complete the full diagnostic pathway. A formal outcome is based on the complete specialist assessment rather than a screening form or single appointment question.
Already diagnosed
Provide your diagnostic report, treatment history, current dose, recent monitoring and previous prescriber details. PrimeLife will decide whether the documentation is sufficient or whether further assessment is required.
Prices are not yet final
Full assessment, treatment and ongoing-care prices will be published before the service opens. Joining the waiting list does not commit you to paying for or proceeding with an assessment.
Assessment, results consultations, titration, reviews, repeat prescriptions and medicines may be charged separately. The full price structure will be shown before patients are asked to make a payment.
Medication, titration and ongoing monitoring
Medication is not automatic after an ADHD diagnosis. The prescriber will discuss the likely benefits, limitations, side effects, alternative approaches and whether treatment is appropriate for your circumstances.
Before medication is started, the planned pathway includes review of your mental and physical health, current medicines, substance-misuse or diversion risk, height, weight, pulse, blood pressure and relevant cardiovascular history. Further assessment may be required where risks are identified.
During titration, symptoms, functioning and adverse effects are reviewed as doses change. Monitoring continues after stabilisation, including physical-health measurements and at least annual specialist medication review.
Important clinical information
- Diagnosis is not guaranteed: the assessment may identify ADHD, another condition, more than one condition, or insufficient evidence for a diagnosis.
- Medication is not guaranteed: prescribing depends on diagnosis, impairment, clinical need, physical and mental health, risks, preferences and professional judgement.
- Shared care is not guaranteed: a GP may decline a request and may require different information or local criteria to be met.
- Driving: you must tell the DVLA if ADHD or ADHD medication affects your ability to drive safely.
- This is not a crisis service: call 999 or attend A&E for an immediate threat to life. Use NHS 111 Wales for urgent advice when it is not life-threatening.
Private prescriptions and medicine supply
Where treatment is approved, PrimeLife may issue a private prescription. Wellness Pharmacy can dispense and post approved medicines to UK addresses, but prescriptions may also be issued for dispensing elsewhere where required.
Medicine costs are separate from assessment, titration and review fees. The prescriber will explain the relevant dispensing route and charges before treatment begins.
Some ADHD medicines are controlled drugs and are subject to additional legal and clinical requirements. Product choice, prescription timing, quantity and delivery arrangements will therefore be determined individually.

Frequently asked questions
Is the private ADHD assessment Wales service open now?
No. The service is currently in its waiting-list phase. PrimeLife will contact registered patients when the service is ready to accept assessment bookings.
Is this an NHS or Right to Choose service?
No. This is a private Partner Service. It is not provided through Treherbert Pharmacy’s NHS services and joining the waiting list is not an NHS referral or Right to Choose application.
Can an online adult ADHD assessment be valid?
A specialist assessment can be delivered by secure video where the clinician can complete the necessary history, clinical interview, mental-state and risk assessment, review supporting information and consider alternative diagnoses. It is not equivalent to an automated online ADHD test.
What should I prepare for an adult ADHD assessment?
Useful information may include a current medicines list, medical and mental-health history, previous assessment reports, school reports or other childhood evidence, employment or education examples and details for an informant who knows you well.
Can PrimeLife help if I already have an ADHD diagnosis?
Potentially. Existing reports and treatment records must be reviewed first. Further assessment, baseline checks or confirmation of the diagnosis may be required before prescribing or transfer is accepted.
Will I receive medication if I am diagnosed?
Not necessarily. Medication is one possible option and requires a separate suitability assessment and informed treatment decision. Some adults choose or require non-medication approaches.
Will my GP take over prescribing?
This cannot be guaranteed. Shared care can only be considered after titration and dose stabilisation, and your GP must independently agree to the arrangement.
Can people under 18 join this service?
No. PrimeLife’s ADHD service is for adults aged 18 and over. Children and adolescents require an age-appropriate specialist pathway.
