Prescriptions at Treherbert Pharmacy
New to Treherbert Pharmacy? Use this page to ask us about ordering your repeat prescription, collecting your medicines or moving your prescriptions to our pharmacy.
Ask us to order your prescription
If you are a regular patient, or would like to start using Treherbert Pharmacy, you can use the form below to send us your prescription request.
Please give us clear details of the medicines you need, your GP surgery and the best way to contact you if we need to check anything.
Prescription requests still need to be approved and issued by your GP practice before the pharmacy can dispense them.
How repeat prescriptions usually work
1. Request your medicines
You can request repeat medicines through your GP surgery, through the NHS Wales App if your GP practice offers this, or by asking Treherbert Pharmacy for help with your repeat prescription request.
2. Your GP practice reviews the request
Your GP practice must approve and issue the prescription. They may contact you if a medicine review is due, if it is too early to order, or if something needs checking.
3. The prescription is sent or collected
Depending on your GP practice and whether electronic prescribing is available, your prescription may be sent electronically to your chosen pharmacy or handled using the usual local process.
4. We prepare your medicines
Once Treherbert Pharmacy receives the valid prescription, we can clinically check it, order any required stock where needed and prepare your medicines for collection.

Using electronic prescriptions in Wales
Electronic Prescription Service, often shortened to EPS, is being rolled out across Wales. Where it is available, it allows a GP practice to send prescriptions electronically to a patient’s chosen community pharmacy.
If your GP practice uses EPS and you would like your prescriptions to come to Treherbert Pharmacy, ask your GP practice or the pharmacy team about having Treherbert Pharmacy recorded as your chosen pharmacy.
If EPS is not yet available for your GP practice, prescriptions may still use the usual local paper or collection process. We can explain what applies locally and help you understand the best way to request your medicines.

Order in good time
Allow enough time for GP approval, pharmacy processing and stock ordering if needed.

If you are running out, contact us as soon as possible so we can advise on the safest next step.

Prescription reminders
Order before you run out
Please request repeat prescriptions in good time. GP approval, pharmacy processing and medicine ordering can take several working days.
Tell us about changes
Let us know if your GP changes your medicines, if you stop taking something, or if you have been discharged from hospital with new medicines.
Urgent medicines
If you have run out of important regular medication, contact the pharmacy as soon as possible. We can advise whether an emergency supply may be possible or whether you need to contact your GP, NHS 111 Wales or another service.
